Good informative read if interested in learning more about Voodoo. Not everything is covered , however it breaks down the Belize system and covers the history as we know it. Definitely worth it if voodoo piques your interest.
“Quick and excellent read!”
Excellent and quick read if you’re interested in world religions. The author is very clear and points out important aspects. I’ve learned a lot about the topic from this, it sorts out fact from fiction! The author also doesn’t pressure you into any beliefs, but to use your own as you read, which I respect entirely. I would recommend this book to pretty much anyone since voodoo stereotypes are everywhere.
“An Alright Introduction”
It was an alright introductory book that gave a good overview of voodoo. I appreciate the broadness and how it acknowledges many different aspects of voodoo. However, I wouldn’t say that it would be for a person that is looking for a more in depth look at voodoo, because that is not this book.
“Good informative read depending on what you are looking for.”
I enjoyed the book, it gave a great over view but it lacks what most book I find on the subject of Voodoo lacks. I want to know how to actually practice it.
“I would recommend”
This was an informative book and an easy read. I learned quite a bit and was inspired to further research Santeria and other related religious traditions.
“Clear and Concise”
Short and to the point, this book is great to get an overall introduction to voodoo in its historic and geographic context.
I learned a little. This is more for someone who knows absolutely nothing about the practice, and may think it’s evil because of propaganda.
I really enjoyed this book. I was impressed with the historical depth it has. A wonderful reference for anyone, even if they don’t practice the craft.
“More of a (long) blog”
This information felt like reading Wikipedia. Nothing new. I was disappointed. Read it in one sitting and learned nothing that I didn’t already know.
